How many of us love an addict ?
How many of us have lost people you love to addiction.
Did you know that within 3 days of beginning to use, your brain is changed? Your DNA changes too
You know how us mamas have always said it's like dealing with the drug… like our person is buried in there, but sometimes so hard to find.
We wait on the call … they're in jail, they've been in a wreck… or God forbid… they are dead.
We can't let the drug live in our homes around our elderly, younger children… and oftentimes… their own children that we are raising.
The quandary is, if I can't separate the person that I love so much from the drug
How can I allow the person to live in my home.
You know the answer if you have lived it; if you are living it, you know that it's an absolute hell on earth.
What are the answers ?
I don't know.
But it seems to me that changing the way people see those suffering from addiction might be a starting place.
Realizing that we all could be there.
Addiction. Is. NOT. A. Moral. Failing.
It's not !
Heck. Put a tray of gluten free cookies in front of me and see how long they last !
